Who is Our Enemy?

Written August 13, 2021

With intention, each morning, Deacon and I spend time together centering our hearts on what the Holy Spirit is teaching us after we each have had personal time listening to the Lord. Periodically, someone will come visit and we have a crowd!  We zoom regularly and communicate with those in our tribe and others who are hungry that our Father has assembled us with. We have truly come to understand that, “where two or three are gathered in Christ’s Name (representing all He is) I Am is in our midst. Doug Allen has brought us to understand the bigger the crowd, the more we can be distracted from focusing and listening to the Holy Spirit. It is true.

I had asked Deacon what the Lord had shown him to which he commented, I’m still in Psalms. I’m still reading about David’s enemies.

Immediately, the Holy Spirit brought to my mind the scriptures that told of David slaying 1000 men and bringing their foreskins back to show Saul, who was King, at the time. It was not a pleasant thought. We continued our conversation. I had dismissed bringing it up. However, the thought remained so I told Deacon it was the first thing I thought of when he spoke of what he read. His face registered the same unpleasantness the memory had brought me.

But then…the Holy Spirit (we have to always have ears to hear and be listening so we can learn) made me think of the symbolic significance of that. We know that the Jews were required to be circumcised as an outward sign of their covenant with God. There is always shedding of blood that ratified the covenant.

David brought the foreskins back to prove he had killed the uncircumcised men. In this case, uncircumcised defines them as his enemy.

The Lord reminded me that circumcision is the separation of dead skin from what produces life. Later, after Christ's resurrection, Jesus' blood became the ratification for us in the New Covenant with Christ.

Jesus said, if any man would come after Me let him take up his cross (endure whatever suffering comes as a result of dying to his old natural way of living) daily, and follow me. Our hearts that carry the life of Christ must be separated from sin. This is circumcision of the heart.

While Christ is not holding our sins against us, at this point in time and we are forgiven, the enemy will tear our hearts and lives apart as long we don’t learn to overcome sin. Sin brings torment. Jesus prays the Father to give us the Spirit of Truth and expects us to gain knowledge and live according to the accuracy of the Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit begins to teach us and as our mind is renewed and we begin to conform to the likeness (the character and nature) of Christ. One of the seven characteristics of the Holy Spirit that He imparts to us is the fear of the Lord. (We highly revere and honor and want to obey. We don’t want to sin!!!)

What we are faced with is as new followers that we have to confront our souls (Psychological reasonings and emotional feelings and imaginations that want what we want and what we like and we like following our own way) which reveals immaturity or carnality in the knowledge of God’s mind and ways. Our souls love sensual stimulation and pleasure and imaginations that can cause us to participate in a devilish way of life although we are not too quick to

recognize, nor admit these things about ourselves.

The enemy tempts us and we have to learn how to overcome and not give over to sinning. As the Holy Spirit empowers us with Godly knowledge (1 of 7 characteristics of HS) we learn how knowledge the world offers and Divine or heavenly knowledge are different. We submit our bodies as a living sacrifice and our minds to be renewed. Once we can discern between world knowledge and knowledge in the Spirit the Lord will give us power ((1 of 7) to live in the truth. We can counsel (1 of 7) with the truth of the Spirit. (The mind of Christ) Understanding (1 of 7) comes as we live out the principles of measuring everything by the standard of Christ. Wisdom (1 of 7) comes with the ability to rule (Lordship (1of 7) over our souls that are so easily tempted.

These seven-fold characteristics of the Spirit of God bring us to live in the strength of measuring everything according to the fullness of the stature of Christ. As we stop participating with the world and submit to the Spirit we will ascend in the strength of the Holy Spirit and gain revelation because we view from being seated (adopted to His mind) with Christ in heavenly (divine) places. We learn to live above the temptations and enticements of our soul.

Jesus came to show us our Father. Once we are born again and inherit Sonship Christ prays the Father will give us the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Truth. The Holy Spirit comes into us and abides in our spirit. He teaches us (when we will be still and listen) to live with the mind of Christ. Prayer is mostly listening. Even when we intercede we should get instruction from the Lord for how and what to pray. He teaches us to live the same way Jesus did. (When we will obey) We learn to recognize how the enemy schemes and how to overcome those schemes. Mostly, these are areas where the enemy has gotten permission to tempt you. If you give in and sin, he gains access until there is repentance.

God said it like to Cain in Genesis, “Sin crouches at your door. You must learn to conquer it.”  Note, the crouching. The enemy of God is ever purposeful and vigilant to tempt us to see if we will give in to sin. James tells us that when we’re tempted it’s because we are enticed  by our own lusts. When we give in to lusts, sin gains entrance.

As I was reading in Hebrews, recently. One passage read, sit here at my right hand (in My authority) until I make Your (Christ’s (we are included in Christ)) enemies Your footstool. Among the Greek Lexicon definitions that stood out to me that bring clarification is 2a1…opposing God (in the mind). A mature son of God has the

Mind of Christ. Isaiah 55 tells us those who do not think God’s thoughts are unrighteous and those who don’t go His way are wicked.

Christ made a way for us to learn by the power of the indwelling Spirit of God to have our minds renewed so we could know His mind and His will. There are at least five Greek words that speak to stages of spiritual growth or maturity in Christ that are usually translated as children or son. They are napios (infant), padaion (toddler) teknon (youth) neoniskas (young man) and Huios (Christ-like). Colossians tells us to live circumspectly (with a circumcised heart). We mature into living in truth with understanding and overcoming the evil one. Our limitations to fully know and live as a fully mature son (Huios) of God and  obey Him in everything are revealed in these less mature definitions.

Being an enemy of God has nothing to do with whether one is loved by God. God loves us while we are His enemies. Recall, if you’re opposing the mind of God you are included in hostility toward God. You are going against God’s way. If we fail to retain God in our knowledge, and do not obey Him the Lord is very clear that the truth is that we do not love Him. If we agree with and cater to the enemy’s thinking and behavior we are following the enemy and we make ourselves an enemy of God. We usually become an enemy through immaturity, deception, temptation and sin. It could be blatant rebellion but then I question if one has actually been born of the Spirit to want to go against our Father. Repentance is the only way out of these schemes and snares. It’s all dictated by living in lies instead of loving the truth.

Moving on with what our Lord was teaching us…He brought back to mind the scripture that states one can set 1000 to flight and two can set 10,000 to flight.

David and his enemies present a type and shadow of one circumcised heart that has the ability to set 1000 to flight. We don’t run from our enemy. We submit to God, (we repent and follow God's way) resist the enemy’s temptation to give in to our own lusts and the enemy flees.

If you have ever been exposed to a person in spiritual bondage caused by giving in to temptation and sinning, setting them free can be quite complex. The following is an example of what could happen to bring a person to agree with large numbers of demons and therefore living under oppression and torment.

Commonly,  people won’t forgive and will justify holding onto an offense. This can open the door to another spirit of hatred and another that looks like bitterness and another called depression and a relative called despondency and then a buddy called hostility that might bring anger and then there’s violence. Murder can gain entrance and all kinds of evil that we are ashamed to even speak can come to haunt us, as well. Sin brings torment so there will probably be sins causing one to want to escape from the torment they’re in. There are all kinds of carnal, sensual and devilish ways to escape. The point is that once one gives in to one sin, other familiar and related spirits can follow unless one repents, immediately.

Once a person starts agreeing with sin,  blindness or confusion as to why the torment accumulates as a result of agreeing with all these bad guys can bring patterns of mental frustration that mankind likes to diagnose as schizophrenia and multiple personality issues. Spirits left to abuse a person and even cause a person to hate themselves cause chemical imbalances in the body producing disease, illnesses and even a spirit of death that steals the energy of life while your body stays alive.

The point is that 1000 can accumulate and influence and control a person who won’t submit to God and repent. We are aware of Jesus freeing a man who had a legion of demons. These demons asked for Jesus not to send them to the Abyss. There are, obviously, more than one place demons have access to.

Christ came to destroy the works of the enemy in us but as long as we are agreeing with these devils they have a right to hang on to your mind and heart. They do. Either we can live with the torment or we can ask the Lord to reveal our deception and where we need to repent. Deception is deception. Many of us don’t even know we are believing lies and sinning. The Holy Spirit is faithful to reveal our sin if we ask. Sin we don’t know we are participating in can be blocked from our mind by the enemy. These are usually familiar or generational sins we learn to accept as normal.

Father wants us to learn to overcome the evil one.  Jesus came to show us the way. All sin can be revealed by the Holy Spirit. Once it is revealed we are responsible to repent and resist the enemy (those who oppose God’s mind and are hostile toward God and His ways) so he will flee.

All temptations are common to man. Jesus makes a way of escape so we can bear it. If we don’t take the way of escape we most likely will be tormented until we repent which means until we submit to God and go His way, we probably will be ignorant about the fact that we could be free if we would stop sinning.

This torment becomes our normal and we’re always looking for a way to be free but the control of the devils will always be deceiving to convince us that our Father’s way isn’t the answer.

Again, we call this ignorance of why we are tormented, blockers, because we have no idea how they manage to keep controlling our thinking. Blockage removal is available to those who experience frustration with not being able to see what they need to overcome to walk in freedom.

Sadly, the world offers alternatives to bring relief to our torment. They have built systems that cater to helping one cope, psychologically without being healed.

So then, if we stop seeking for God's answers and look for the world’s answers, we add man’s opposition to God’s mind. Man’s way does not consider and retain God in their knowledge. When we look for relief from mankind without retaining the knowledge of God we add more enemies like trusting in man.

Anyway, the lesson was when we stop sinning (live with a circumcised heart) and live only doing what the Father says and in His way, we can set 1000 of the lies we believed that cause sin to remain, with torment, to flight. Two circumcised hearts can set 10,000 to flight.  This indicates maturity to help others set them them to flight.

Don’t be deceived into thinking you have power to do this apart from maturity. It’s popular for young sons of God to think of themselves as warriors. The Lord doesn’t want us engaging with the enemy. We learn to discern and recognize where we need to repent and ask the Lord to send His angels to take care of what goes on with the devils. We learn this. Mankind has deceived us into thinking we have power to defeat the enemy in other ways than repenting and resisting him.  Our power to overcome

and defeat the enemy lies in us recognizing and living in and loving the truth.

When we are immature in living with the

in the mind of Christ we wrestle with our carnality, sensuality, and participating in devilish lies.  This causes chaos and confusion.  The Holy Spirit informs us of the truth or sends mature sons to inform us of the truth. This is spoken to in scripture as watching over someone’s souls. They inform and remind us of what God thinks or what His will is concerning different subjects. Once we have been brought to the truth we must agree with the truth and stop agreeing with the lies of the enemy and follow our own carnal ways.

Mature sons live with circumcised hearts able to set 1000 to flight.
